Multispares Grows with MomentumPro

Multispares has been importing and distributing truck and bus parts for 25 years and in 1987 was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. The company has grown from a small wholesaler of Leyland parts established in 1976 into the largest independent supplier of truck and bus parts in Australasia. Multispares business is based on a network of nine wholly owned warehouses and sales outlets, including three in New Zealand. This is supported by company representatives, resellers and dealers across Australia and New Zealand.

All Multispares outlets are linked by an on-line computer system that supports all operations. This system shares a common database including a catalogue with over 100,000 product applications, real-time inventory availability and a fully automated sales, picking and dispatch system.

 
Total Business Integration

“We integrate all functions of our business using the MomentumPro system,” said Geoff Stewart, Managing Director of Multispares.

Multispares operates the Importing, Inventory, Sales Processing, Purchasing, Service, Pricing, Marketing, Warehousing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Banking modules in MomentumPro.

According to Stewart, “MomentumPro handles sales order processing, product inventory control, product distribution and financial accounting. MomentumPro also produces extensive online reports for daily analysis.”

MomentumPro – An Essential Business Tool

Stewart says that “A good computer system is an essential tool for business development as it supports business processes.” MomentumPro has been designed as a complete enterprise management software solution that meets the needs of modern wholesale distribution and supply companies.

Multispares is constantly growing both in Australia and in New Zealand. Stewart explained that “MomentumPro has made it easy to establish new branches because all the systems are scaleable. MomentumPro also has an extremely good back-end database.” The reason for this is MomentumPro is built using the Progress relational database engine which provides excellent stability and scalability.

“We have about 24,000 inventory items on file. At any one time there are between 15,000 and 16,000 live items available for use. These are accessible through all our branches in Australia and New Zealand.”

MomentumPro gives businesses the ability to link all their branches on-line in real-time. All branches use the same data and have access to the same information. This improves efficiency and reduces costs incurred as there is no need for staff to phone or fax between branches to get the information they need. The information they need is all available to them instantly via MomentumPro.

MomentumPro Provides Excellent Stock Control for Multispares

Stewart said, “Our stocktakes are very good. For the significant number of transactions we do, the errors in stock-takes are insignificant”. MomentumPro provides excellent inventory and stock control.

“There are two things that make us favour MomentumPro. One, it has developed in a way that supports our needs. Two, we have made an investment in MomentumPro; we view ourselves as having a partnership with Markinson long-term.”

Multispares have been using Markinson software since 1987. Stewart explained that it has been beneficial to see Markinson grow even more customer focused. “Based on my experiences the company has become customer focused and developed strong disciplines to help develop customer driven improvements.”
