Markinson User Conference 2006

Driving your technology investment further

October 2006
The Markinson User Conference 2006, held on October 24th & 25th at the Sheraton Mirage on Queensland’s Gold Coast celebrated Markinson’s 20th year providing solutions for the supply chain industry.

This, Markinson’s sixth User Conference catered for one hundred Markinson product users, sponsors and guests who attended two days of IT, business and product presentations from experienced industry experts, Markinson customers, staff and partners.

The objective of this year’s conference was to help clients ’drive their technology investment further’ by providing delegates access to information on key business trends, challenges and opportunities faced by small to medium enterprises; quality technical solutions and the opportunity to discuss business and technical solutions with partners, Markinson staff and fellow product users.

Sessions were presented by a variety of experienced industry speakers, Markinson partners and staff on a broad range of information technology, business and supply-chain industry trends and solutions.

Presentation topics ranged from the impact of the new Industrial Relations laws on small to medium businesses; eCommerce threats, opportunities and legal considerations; business finance and infrastructure solutions; supply-chain accreditation; human resource and employment trends, among others.

Markinson presented the latest developments within the MomentumPro product suite, including MomentumPro WebOnline 2.0, Markinson’s advanced eCommerce solution; the supply-chain Business Intelligence application MomentumPro BI; developments in the latest version of MomentumPro V3.0, in addition to the future direction of these offerings. A product demonstration and partner trade show area allowed delegates to get a hands-on feel for Markinson’s product range and partner solutions available to MomentumPro users.

With 89 percent of delegates rating the Conference as ’excellent’ or ’good’, feedback from attendees has been very positive making Conference 2006 an exciting success. The event unveiled a fresh corporate focus and customer service strategies under Ralph Hunt, Markinson’s Chief Executive Officer since September 2005 and excited Markinson’s client base in the company, products and services, partners and future direction.

2006 Conference Features

Theme: Driving your Technology Investment Further.

Customer Panel Session: The open discussion format of the customer panel allows for open and honest accounts from fellow Markinson clients, MomentumPro users and industry peers; an openness highly valued by conference delegates.

Solution Display Area: Over two days, the conference solution display area allowed delegates to view and interact with new products available from Markinson and selected partners, including some of Markinson's latest offerings and partner solutions ready to work with MomentumPro. Clients could discuss the application of some of Markinson's newer releases with early adopters.

Wednesday Morning Keynote & Supply-Chain Simulation: Ian Dover’s Wednesday keynote presentation, "Using Supply-chain Management to Increase Business Capacity & Profits" was a particularly popular session. Dover's presentation identified methods that can help simplify business and increase efficiencies and sales success. The key principles of Dover’s presentation were then illustrated in a series of supply-chain simulations that had the entire delegate audience involved and ’thinking outside the square’.

Gala Evening: The Tuesday evening Gala event at SeaWorld proved an exciting and popular social treat for delegates and their guests. The night began with a private dolphin show and before the night was over there were limitless rollercoaster rides, conga lines, great food, drink and dance well into the night.
